Dunster by Candlelight Park & Ride. 

PLEASE NOTE: Parking arrangements are still being finalised for 2012 so please refer back to this page throughout the year.

These are the latest details of the park and ride scheme, updated January 2012.

As with any live event things can change at the last minute, so please check the website regularly and contact us if you have questions. Anne Perryman 01643 821011 (anneperryman@btinternet.com) is in charge of parking and the Park and Ride

Dunster Village - No Parking

There is NO parking in Dunster Village from 3pm on the nights of Dunster by Candlelight, a Park and Ride scheme is in operation from Minehead, Watchet and Wheddon Cross.

Very few residents in Dunster have their own parking. It is important that they are looked after during Candlelight so it is their cars that fill the Car Parks.  They are given special Car Passes to enable them to do this

Please note:  Parking is not allowed on the Timberscome Road between the Foresters Arms and Flatford Bridge. Anyone parking there will be ticketed and towed away by the Police.

Minehead ~ Park and Ride

Follow the AA signs. The buses will run from 3pm both days and will pick up from the entrance to Butlins on the sea front and just outside the railway station.  The main parking area is in front of Butlins and the Buses will pick up at Butlins entrance. It will also pick up at the West Somerset Railway Station. The Minehead Park and Ride will run continuosly from 3pm.The last bus going back to Minehead from Dunster will be about 10.30pm.

Return or single fare £TBC. Children under 12 and accompanied by an adult will travel free. Groups of unaccompanied children under 12 will not be free. Bus passes are not acceptable on the Park and Ride.

Watchet ~ Park and Ride

Buses will run from 4.30pm on a continious loop approximately every half-hour. Free parking in the  Watchet Railway Station Car Park in Harbour Road (TA23 0ET). Last Bus back will leave Dunster at 9.15pm.

Williton, Fore Street (TA4 4PX),

Washford, Bus Stop at the junction of A39 and Abbey Road (TA23 0PR),

Carhampton, Bus Stop at the junction of A39 and High Street.

Return or single £TBC. irrespestive of where you board the bus.Children under 12 accompanied by an Adult will be free. Groups of unaccompanied children under 12 will not be free. Bus Passes are not accepted.

Wheddon Cross ~ Park and Ride

Buses will start at 4.30pm on a continuous loop approximately every half hour. Free parking at the New Cattle Market/Market Business Park (TA2 4DT). Last bus back will be 9.15 from Dunster.

Wheddon Cross, New Cattle Market (TA2 4DT),

Timberscombe, Bus Stop at the junction of A396 and Brook Street.

Dunster, Junction of A396 and Park Street is the drop off and pick up point.

Disabled Parking

Follow the AA signs in Minehead for disabled Parking which will be the Minehead Eye end of the West Somerset Railway Car Park where a special bus for the disabled will run from 5pm on the Friday and 4pm on the Saturday. This bus will run to and fro during the evening. The last bus will leave Dunster just before 10pm. This transport will only carry non-walking disabled and carer (ie wheelchair or electric chairs). All walking disabled will need to use the normal Park and Ride (Ridlers Coaches) where there will be someone to help board if needed. A ticket must be obtained before boarding any bus. West Somerset Railway

www.west-somerset-railway.co.uk runs special trains each evening from Bishop's Lydyeard to Minehead, stopping at Dunster. (this stop is quite a way from the village) These are usually filled well in advance so book early. Details from WSR Information line 01643 704996

Information for Coach Operators

No Coaches or Mini Buses are allowed into Dunster during the Candlelight evenings.  All coaches must follow the signs to Park and Ride in Minehead.  All coaches and buses etc., must be booked into Candlelight in advance. Please ring Penny Bale on 01643 702629 to book your coach etc., and information regarding the area for coach parking in Minehead.
